Megibung is a tradition carried out by the Islamic community in Bali. Megibung also become part of the tradition of Islamic village Kepaon since formed hundreds of years ago. Tradition megibung in Kepaon conducted every ten days during the month of Ramadan, each day of the tenth, twentieth day, and the thirtieth day.
Megibung conducted after the Muslims and the mosque of Al immigrants do khataman (finished reading the holy book Quran to finish) every tenth days.
Megibung Bali is a tradition that contains the meaning of togetherness. Eating together with a few people with a tray of the same is expected to increase inter-race kinship.
The food presented at the mosque when megibung vary greatly, but still in the taste of Balinese cuisine. Cooking with base genep (full flavor) dominate the foods presented. Like the chicken base genep, Plecing, matah samba, and others. There are also menu bali and lotong porridge soup. Drinks also varied, ranging from the compote, ice cantaloupe, bottled tea drinks, mineral water, and brongko (typical beverage Iftar at Kepaon made of starch, sugar and coconut milk).
Megibung done by eating rice and fish or chiken in several trays. One tray of food usually consumed by five to six people. They looked very voracious when consuming these foods. Not only adults, but also children shall follow the tradition handed down.
