Tawur Sega Tradition from Rembang,Java,Indonesia

Sega Tawur tradition is a tradition handed down Pelemsari village community, Apex, Central Java. In the Java language, meaning Tawur throwing, while Sega is rice. So, tradition is tradition Tawur Sega throwing rice, made by the participants. 
Every year, villagers Pelemsari district Source Tawur Sega always carry the tradition. Usually, this tradition is carried out after the rice harvest season. When the day of the tradition has been established, all the residents gathered in Punden Pelemsari Pelemsari, an open field under a large tree near the tomb Mbah Nyah, village elders. Before being taken to the event, they fill these baskets with white rice snacks are also made from rice or sticky rice. Several rolls of mats made of woven rattan-began to be held in the middle of the field. In the tradition of Sega Tawur, a mat that was held not to sit on for the citizens, but a place to put white rice. Previously, white rice is in the basket, but once on the ground, white rice is simply dumped on the mat. Every citizen Pelemsari carry one basket of rice, in the end no amount of rice on a mat-abundance seemed to form a mound. While various snack arranged in such a way into a plastic bag that had been prepared earlier. Snacks that will be distributed to all residents when the tradition of Sega Tawur ended.

Silence began to be felt when the Indigenous Elders lead the prayer. To the Creator, they hope, all the villagers will get blessings of life and abundant harvests in the next season. After the prayer request is finished, the silence turned into a festive when the residents were all fighting to hold rice piled on a mat. Without any command, every citizen took a handful of rice and the rice throwing. Like previous years, this ritual will be stopped until the rice is above the mat out. 
Although implementation has been carried out Sega Tawur tradition since hundreds of years ago, no one knows why the villagers Pelemsari must throw rice. Although no exact reason, the residents always seemed enthusiastic every time tradition Tawur Sega implemented. Some say, it looks enthusiasm from residents who smiled happily when the action throwing rice. Why not? Because they consider the implementation of this ritual can keep the village from all sorts of trouble. 
So strong was the belief that, until now they considered the whole village will have to crop failure if not performed Tawur Sega. After the action of throwing rice is finished, the residents seemed to take rice scattered on the ground. One by one, they collect the rice into a plastic bag. Former rice is not thrown away, but taken home and used as food for their livestock. They believe, animals have been eating leftover rice the tradition will be kept away from all diseases.
