Nangkluk Mrana myth from Bali,Indonesia

Nangluk Mrana

Myth simply can not be removed from the minds of human mystical Bali. There are several myths associated with Mrana Nangluk ceremony. But the most popular myths that developed in the Balinese society that adheres to an agrarian culture is a story I Gudug Basur and I Bawi Srenggi.

In the myth is told that I Gudug Bawi Srenggi Basur and I were great friends. Both are equally sacred, born from the god who was condemned to live in the world due to a fault. One day they heard a rumor about the beauty of Sri Bhatari. The rumor is intriguing for two friends both want to have Bhatari Sri. But they have never met and know who Bhatari Sri. Narrated Bhatari Sri already has a husband named Bhatara Sedana hair.

First Gudug Bawi Srenggi Basur and I agreed to duel pitted its miracle. Who would win then she is entitled to later have Bhatari Sri. Because both the magic in a duel that nobody wins and who loses. Then they make a new agreement to equally seek Bhatari Sri different direction of travel.

In a different direction of travel with it, I managed to find Bhatari Gudug Basur Sri early and immediately wanted to take it from Bhetara Sedana hair. I Gudug Basur challenging Hair Bhatara Sedana Bhatari Sri fight a duel. In a thrilling duel that I Gudug Basur was killed by drowning into the seabed. But before I die I Gudug Basur swore that he was not satisfied before successfully united with Sri Bhatari, he will continue to hunt down Bhatari Sri. So after I Gudug Basur dead body turned into salt, sea fish, and all the sea. Sea salt and fish will someday be able to meet with Sri Bhatari a symbol of paddy (rice) in a single plate. From this came the Balinese belief that you should never waste rice because rice is necessarily or source of life.

I Bawi Srenggi that runs the opposite direction to Gudug Basur I also managed to meet Sri Bhatari that has changed the form of a rice plant to fool the enemy view. I Bawi Srenggi change its form into pigs and damaged rice crops. Pig successful incarnation was killed with stakes made of yellow bamboo. Before dying I Bawi Srenggi also threw an oath that he had not felt calm before successfully united with Sri Bhatari. Then the body parts I Bawi Srenggi mrana turn into different kinds or pests, which are always going to interfere in the rice paddy farmers. Her blood became reckless fire (disease of rice plants in the form of tiny worms that caused the tops of dry rice), breathing becomes reckless aus (a kind of pests that attack rice plants), the nails become gehep (also pests that attack rice), a rat tail, fur becomes Balang rice pest, its skin become kubal (small caterpillar that causes rice leaves whitish), the nose becomes Balang sengkot (a type of pest insects), and sweat into salt.

All types of pest that is born from the bodies I Bawi Srenggi rectified by holding a ceremony nangluk mrana. And mice that were born from the tail first embodiment Bawi Srenggi get special attention in an agrarian culture in Bali. Rats according to Balinese belief is the type of animals that have a very strong negative qualities because as pests and nuisance house especially the kitchen and stuff like mice to cut off. Because it has a destructive negative forces, the Balinese more carefully treated rats.
