Cowongan Tradition from Banyumas,Java,Indonesia


Cowongan is requested ceremony using property in the form of rain or irus siwur decorated to resemble a princess. Performer cowongan consists of women who were in a state of pure (not menstruation, childbirth, sexual intercourse or discharged). With a sing-song of a particular song that really represents the prayers. Cowongan carried out only in time of drought. This ritual is usually conducted from the end of the Kapat (the count period in the Javanese calendar) or around September. Implementation at every Friday night beginning on Friday night POND. In the tradition of community Banyumas, cowongan done in a matter of first instance odd times, three times, five times or seven times.
