Istana Silinduang Bulan located in Pagarruyung village, district of Tanjung Emas, about 5 kilometers from the capital Batusangkar Tanah Datar. Palace which was built in the late 80's was built as the home of the descendants of the once reigning king of Pagarruyung. Establishment Silinduang Moon Palace could not escape from the spread and development of Islam in West Sumatra. Historically, the Moon Silindung first used to name the new Pagarruyung Palace erected on its current site in 1550. Establishment of the palace and the naming is intended to mark the beginning of the year according to the calculation and application of Hijri calendar officially Islamic law in the Kingdom of Pagarruyung. Previously, the kingdom known Pagarruyung Tantrayana embraced Buddhism, as seen in the statues and artifacts found in the area. Brittle with age, this palace was renovated and completed in 1750. When the Padri War raged, the palace was razed to the ground after a fire in 1821. By Lord Gadih Sumpu Puti Reno, Moon returned Silinduang founded in 1869 and returned to the central government Pagaruyung Kingdom. But again, this palace burned on August 3, 1961. Do not want to move the location of the major stakes that have been chosen ancestor, Silinduang Moon Palace was built again in 1987 and was completed in December 1989. All development of this palace was built purely with private family expenses. Currently visitors can see up close the beauty and majesty of the architecture. Silinduang Moon Palace has size 28 x 8 meters. According to the categorization Gadang house, the Moon Palace has Silinduang architectural style called Alang Babega. The roof-shaped gonjong (editorial), amounting to seven fruits. The whole building has Silinduang Month 9 room. On either side of the front of the house there is a pair rangkiang, the building that served as a granary, which was named Bayau-Si and Si bayau Review Lauik. In the main building there are four bedrooms or cubicles, Anjuang on the right side of the Gold, Silver Anjuang on the left side, and a kitchen. Anjuang second function as "Status Rajo" or throne of a king. Gold is dedicated Anjuang king, who bear the title "Rajo Tuo" and Silver for Anjuang crown prince, who styled "Master Gadih". There are more than 200 carved motifs carved on the outside surface of the building Silindung Moon Palace. Color that dominates these carvings are red, yellow, black and brown. The interior of the palace is covered with a cloth curtain and langik-filled langik gold thread embroidery in a variety of motives. Although Pagaruyung Kingdom no longer exists, remains Silinduang Moon palace for Minangkabau culture. Besides being a place to live the descendants of kings, this palace functioned as a traditional center of Minangkabau society. The museum is also holding many historical relics and heritage associated with the long history Pagaruyung Kingdom.
