Bau Nyale

Nyale (or called Odor Nyale in Lombok) is a marine worm hunting ceremony to welcome the Festival. Usually this event perform around February and March. To greet the public usually has conducted various rituals of the far-distant day. Some rituals are usually carried out chicken pieces and make a diamond. This is because the ritual is closely related to the Festival events to see the good and the bad fate of someone who will participate in the Festival. The traditional leader or rato see processed chicken and ketupat. If the roast chicken was still bleeding from the intestines, and the ketupat that has been cooked, there is a red, or brown, it is believed this is a bad sign. Ie members of families who Festival, will be dangerous, such as injuries, or even death. As the night deepened, the rato of duty observed the emergence of a full moon, soon getting ready wear uniform rato (Or commonly called rowa rato). This ritual is usually done by praying on the tomb stone (grave) and is facing the full moon. By facing the full moon, the rato to ensure the accuracy and the position of the moon, and the state of the sea waves at the beach. From where will be decided it is time Nyale. Once Nyale or sea worms are seen, all the people who had gathered since dawn, began the hunt. This tradition is usually done also by the people of Bali and Lombok but usually not accompanied by the Festival
