Gunung Kawah Ijen


Mount Ijen Crater (or commonly abbreviated to Ijen Crater) is one of active volcanoes in East Java. This mountain is part of the National Park Alas Purwo, namely national parks located in Banyuwangi regency, East Java. However, administratively, Ijen Crater is divided into two districts, namely Bondowoso and Banyuwangi regency, East Java.
Ijen Crater Mountain has an altitude of about 2443 meters above sea level (asl) and has erupted several times, namely in 1796, 1817, 1913, and 1936. As a result of the explosions, a wide-gaping crater lake with miracle sulfur (sulfur) in it. It is said, because the vast capacity of water and sulfur in this crater, Crater of Ijen is one of the largest crater lake in the world.
Ijen crater, which was visited by many domestic and foreign tourists have a natural charm attracted extraordinary, with a path lined with flowers with the eternal, made more attractive charm beauty.
After quite satisfied with the sensation of this nature tourism, tourists can continue the journey toward the crater Ijen. To reach the crater lip, takes 2-3 mile hike so far. Inside the crater there are pools of turquoise-colored water that contains sulfur covering approximately 54 hectares, or about 40 million cubic meters.
