Balimau Tradition,West Sumatra,Indonesia
One of the traditions of the people of Padang, West Sumatra before the entry of the month of Ramadan is Balimau which aims to cleanse themselves, but recently this tradition ceremony just a bath together in the river or other public baths.
Balimau is one tradition that means activities that purify themselves before the entry of this Ramadan.
Formerly used to be carried out by using a bath of lime (citrus). Because lime (lemon) used as a symbol to abolish it - the dirty things inherent worship in Ramadan so that when everything is clean. But recent world events as this tradition began to shift to a mere shower - bathe in the river or other public dipemandian.
But also many visitors who come simply to enjoy the atmosphere of the place of the public baths.
